February 2025 issue of Airliner World, incorporating Airports of the World, features on its cover the stunning Emirates Airbus A350, the airline’s first new aircraft type in more than a decade. Richard Schuurman was in Dubai to witness the arrival of the next generation widebody and uncover how the jet begins a new chapter for the Middle East’s largest carrier. 

While the Airbus A350 is at the very early stages of its commercial life, the Boeing 757 is gradually disappearing from passenger service after more than four decades of service. Jonathan Hinkles reveals some of his epic experiences with the iconic aircraft as the last British operator, Jet2, prepares to retire the ‘Atari Ferrari’. 

From the Airliner World team, Robert Veitch heads to Italy to uncover the history of Venice/Marco Polo airport and speak to some of the facility’s key figures to find out how its extension project is progressing. We also catch up with the godfather of aircraft leasing, Steven Udvar-Házy, who tells us about airlines, aircraft and the future of the leasing sector, while Rwandair CEO Yvonne Makolo details the flag carrier’s bold plans for the future. 

On the historical side, Bob O’Brien tells the colourful story of Cambrian Airways, once one of the UK’s largest independent airlines, and Matteo Legani flies on Czech Airlines’ final flight after almost 101 years of operation.  

Finally, as we sit in the depths of winter in the Northern Hemisphere, commercial pilot Robin Evans delves into the art and science behind the critical de-icing process.
