Marcel Bloch and Louis Breguet were two French aeronautical engineers whose companies designed some of the most important and innovative combat and civil aircraft of the 20th Century.
When they merged in the 1970s under the Dassault name, they became a defence and aerospace powerhouse building fighters, bombers, patrol planes and business jets, most notably the famous Mirage and Falcon families, which have sold all over the world. In addition, they produced innovative experimental aircraft and spacecraft and became a world leader in computer-aided design.
Using vintage and contemporary photographs, detailed cutaway drawings and colourful profile illustrations Aviation Archive No 81 chronicles the history of this famous French company, its personalities and its products, from the biplanes of World War One to the supersonic fighters of today and UAVs of tomorrow.
